Samuel J. Shetler, age 61 of Cochranton, passed away on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at St. Vincent Hospital, Erie, with his family by his side. He was born October 9, 1953 in Jamestown, New York, the son of the late John and Barbara Yoder Shetler. He was a humorous man, loved by many and known for his opinion. He was employed as a builder with Diamond Construction in Jackson Center, PA, and started working in l984 for 20 years with S. Bryer Cable TV of Cochranton as a foreman. He was born Amish then broke ties in the early 70's. Samuel enjoyed hunting deer with his cousin Benny, gardening and picking berries. He made the best apple pies. He is survived by a son; Rodney Shetler and his wife, Song of Rochester, New York; three grandchildren, Elijah, Adia and Igby, brothers; Mose, Jake, John, Levi, Ben and Noah and sisters; Barbara, Susan, Amanda and Maddie. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Yoder Shetler in 1977, his father, John Shetler in 2002, and by his former wife Linda Bryer in 2014. Calling hours will be held from 4 PM until 5 PM at the at the Hatheway-Tedesco Funeral Home & Crematory, 614 Baldwin Street, Meadville, PA16335 The funeral service will follow at 5 PM at the funeral home with Pastor David Brumagin of the Pastoral Care at Meadville Medical Center, officiating. Burial will be in the Cochranton Cemetery Memorial contributions can be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY 10016.
