Samuel David York

August 22, 1936 — June 1, 2017

Samuel David York, age 80, of Meadville passed away on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.             He was born on August 22, 1936 in Meadville, the son of the late Edwin York and Helen Myers York.             Samuel graduated from Cochranton High School in 1955. He was a diesel mechanic at Dad’s Dog Food. He was a truck driver for Pacific Intermountain Express Co, and Rider Truck Lines for many years. Samuel was a member of the United Methodist Church in Cochranton. He loved hunting, fishing, boating, riding ATV’s, motorcycles, snowmobiles, camping, and driving his motor home. Samuel enjoyed going to Dollywood, Mount Rushmore, The Grand Canyon, Minnesota on fishing trips, Canada, and Kinzua Bridge. He also had a passion for dogs. He enjoyed taking care of plowing his neighbor’s driveway along with his dog, using his ATV.             Samuel is survived by his significant other for fifty years Jeannette Wayner of Meadville, two daughters: Cheri York of Conneaut Lake, Elayne York and her husband of Jerry of Alabama, two sons: Joe York and his wife Joyce of Meadville, Don York of Conneaut Lake, 10 grandchildren: Myriah Martin, David York, Jeremy Aubel, Rebecca and her husband Mike  Stainbrook, Bill York and his wife Jenna, Sean York and his wife Sara, Don Brandenburg and his wife Sabrina, Shelly Kline, Ricky Knight, and Eddie Brandenburg, several great-great grandchildren, two God Children: Amber Miller and Jacob Miller of West Virginia, one brother: John L. York and his significant other Norma McFadden of Guys Mills, and his dog Toby, and extended family.  Special thanks to Tina Walker, Ashley Hotchkiss, Delores and Claud Booth.             In addition to his parents, Samuel was preceded in death by two brothers: Joe York and Bill York, and a grandson Sam York.             Per Samuel’s wishes there will be no calling hours or services.
