Shirley Mumford, age 94, formerly of Geneva passed away peacefully at the home of her son and daughter-in-law on Hank St., with family at her bedside, on Saturday, April 30, 2022. She was born on July 29, 1927 in Meadville, to George and Edna (Friedrich) Bradway. On April 21, 1947 she married Marshall W. Mumford who preceded her in death.
She was a member of Reash Community Church and in her younger days, she taught Sunday school. She worked as a housekeeper for many years. She also sold night crawlers from her house. Many of the local kids knew her as the “worm lady”. She spent approximately 50 years donating her time and efforts as secretary/treasurer and maintaining Greenwood Memorial Cemetery. To her family, she will be remembered for making the best pancakes.
She is survived by her sons Larry (Pansy) of Big Rock, TN, Ronald of Charleston, WV, Chuck (Kathy) of Atlantic, PA, Dennis (Anne) of Meadville PA, David (Betty) of Meadville, PA, and Darlene Urey of Cochranton, PA; 9 Grandkids Ronnie (ThomAnn), Robbie (Nikki), Tammy (Billy), Jenny (Kevin), Marsha (Quinn), Adam (Angie), Brian (Sherry), Joe (Brittany) and Corey and several Great Grandkids and Great-Great Grandkids; and a sister Lorraine Laney of Warren, OH and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and a granddaughter Stacey Mumford, her sister Betty McQueen, her brothers Stanley Bradway and Marvin Bradway.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at Hatheway-Tedesco Funeral Home and Crematory, from 11AM until 1PM. The Funeral will follow at 1PM, officiated by Pastor Joy Mumford.
