Stanley Dombrowski

March 31, 1920 — April 30, 2015

Stanley Dombrowski age 95 of Meadville, PA passed away on April 30, 2015 at his residence. He was born March 31, 1920 in Syracuse, New York the son of the late Stanley and Katherine Gronkowski Dombrowski. He married Valeria Ellioff on February 16, 1941. She preceded him in death on April 8, 2014. Stanley retired from Crucible Steel in Syracuse, New York. He was honorably discharged from the United States Navy having served in World War II. Stanley attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. He enjoyed hunting fishing, playing cards and gardening. "The best way to describe my dad is Jed Clampett with an attitude. He loved fishing and hunting, but never bragged about anything he caught and he would publicly chastise anyone that did. He had a deep respect for Native Americans, because they knew how to live off the land, and only took from it what they needed, never killing for sport. While my mother taught me the truth about Jehovah God, and his purpose for the earth, my dad taught me the truth about American History. For instance, Custer and men like him were the real savages. This of course got me in fights with neighbor kids before I was in the 2nd grade. He loved gardening and took care of the many flower beds for my mom to enjoy. He always told me I was smart, so use my head when trying to figure something out. "It's not just a hat rack". He taught me a handful of Polish words, how to tie my shoes, ride a bike, bait a hook, swim, load and shoot a 22, play poker, make Sauerbraten, identify some edible mushrooms, play baseball with a jackknife, drive a stick shift, and play Swannee River on the piano. All necessary skills for a Polish girl to survive. He flirted with my mom even after 70 years of marriage. Even though we angered each other from time to time, I felt very, very, fortunate to of had him as long as I did. Thanks Dad. Thanks for your love of creation, and your honest view of people, not as a race or nationality, but as we were really created to be individuals. You are definitely one of a kind. See you in the resurrection! Your daughter, Ruthy." He is survived by two daughters; Carol A. Light and her husband Gene Light Jr. of Salisbury, North Carolina, and Ruth I Timmons and her husband, Matt T. Timmons of Meadville, PA, two sons; Steve S. Dombrowski and his wife Marie D. of Buffalo, New York, Fred A. Dombrowski and his wife Kathy D. of Aurora, Ohio, eight grandchildren: Timothy Dombrowski, Lisa Dombrowski, Jeanette Roberts, Tasha Tresidder, Genevieve Kelly, Elizabeth Overstreet, Corry Abbott and Samuel Abbott, seven great-grandchildren: Ashley Roberts, Joshua Roberts, Zane Tresidder, Ien Tresidder, Zeali Overstreet, Kai Overstreet, and Elijah Overstreet., a daughter in law; Cherry D. Dombrowski of Wickliffe, Ohio, a brother, Leon Dombrowski and his wife Betty of Syracuse, New York, a half brother: John Zobro of Syracuse, New York, two half sisters; Helen Zobro and Wanda Zobro both of Syracuse, New York.
