Susan H. Goss, 74, of Meadville passed away July 10, 2024, in Franklin, PA surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Meadville to Andrew T. and Eleanor (Grabowski) Hackworth.
Susan graduated in 1967 from Linesville High School and received her Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education from Edinboro College in 1971. December of that year she married David T. Goss of Meadville.
Susan was the proprietress of Sue’s Bakery and Donuts, having several locations in the Meadville area for 21 years. She took great joy in having her grandchildren “help” her bake. Her family members and many friends always loved to visit her at the bakery, to hear her cheerful voice while enjoying her delicious pastries.
She enjoyed immersing herself in historical romances, crossword puzzles, sewing and crochet projects, listening to Motown, watching mysteries and loudly cheering on her beloved Steelers. She loved her time with family even more. She reveled in campfires at the family camp, weekend card games and Christmas shopping bus trips with her sisters. After closing the bakery, many holidays included cookie making marathons in her home kitchen with daughters and granddaughters.
Susan is preceded in death by her mother, Eleanor and her in-laws Charles and Helen Goss. Susan is survived by her loving husband, David, a son, Michael Goss (wife, Stephanie), daughters, Kristina Sanderson (husband, Jason) and Sandra Kapis (husband, Todd). She was blessed with 7 grandchildren: Jordan Christman (husband, Daniel), Megan Goss (significant other Tim Sosko), Hayden Sanderson, Rhett Sanderson, Reid Sanderson (“The Triplets”), Drake Peterman, and Zack Peterman. Also surviving is her father, Tom Hackworth and her six siblings: Patricia Largent, Samuel Hackworth (wife, Judy), Joyce Jones (husband, Greg), Jack Hackworth (wife, Laurie), Jill Lippert (husband, Gary), Marianne Kephart (husband, Michael). She will be missed by 16 nieces and nephews, many more great-nieces and nephews, and cherished brothers and sisters-in-laws and cousins.
Calling Hours will be held on Friday July 12, 2024 4-7pm at Hatheway-Tedesco Funeral Home. The funeral will follow on Saturday July 13th at 1:00pm at the funeral home.
