Susan Joan Sheets

Susan Joan Sheets, age 92, of Meadville, remained in her home, with her family , with the help the VNA and Hospice of Crawford County and passed on Friday January 23,2015. Susan was born on August 15, 1922, in Middletown, New York, the daughter of Fredrico and Katrina (Guerrieri) Pingotti. She married John S. Sheets Jr. on November the 8th, of 1947. After fifty-one years of marriage, John passed away on October 20th, 1999. Susan was a graduate of Middletown High School in 1940 ; attended business school in Middletown (N.Y.); she also studied Agricultural Extension Courses through Penn State University. Mrs. Sheets was employed as a supervisor of aides in the Penn State Extension Nutrition Service. She was the first woman elected as the City Treasurer, in Meadville. Susan was an auditor for Crawford County, and was the bookkeeper for: Sandy's Art Works and Sandy's Sign Works both of Meadville. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Meadville, where she served as an Elder, and was a member of the Love: Womens' Circle. Mrs. Sheets is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Sandra S. Cheropovich and Nicholas J. Cheropovich, PhD. of Meadville; her grandson Zane A. Cheropovich D.V.M., who practices at the Crawford County Humane Society Veterinary Hospital (Meadville); her granddaughter and grandson-in-law : Zahava A. Bennett J.D. of the Thomas Development Law Firm, LLC (Pittsburgh, PA); and her husband Matthew Bennett M.B.A., of PNC Bank. Friends will be received on Tuesday, January 27th from 4PM until 6 PM at the Hatheway-Tedesco Funeral Home and Crematory, 614 Baldwin Street, Meadville, PA . Mrs. Sheet's funeral service will be will be held at 6P.M. with the Rev. Dr. Brian Jensen, Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church , Meadville, Officiating. Susan will be interred next to her husband in Greendale Cemetery, where their graves overlook their family home.
