On January 25, 2022, Thelma (Kaminsky) Weiner Baskind age 92, loving wife, mother, and grandmother died peacefully in Meadville, PA.
Thelma was born on May 27, 1929, in Pittsburgh, PA to Anna and Harry Kaminsky. She received her schooling in Pittsburgh: graduating from Taylor Allderdice High School, completing a bachelor’s degree in English and a master’s degree in Education from the University of Pittsburgh. “Mrs. Weiner,” as she was known to her students, was a beloved kindergarten teacher in the Pittsburgh Public Schools for many years.
Thelma was married to Bernard Weiner from 1949 until his death in 1990. They had three children, Deborah, Daniel, and James. She was married to Sanford Baskind from 1999 until his death in 2013.
Thelma especially loved spending time with her grandchildren, Sara Lily Weiner and Todd Dickey, encouraging their passions for travel and theater. She took great pleasure in gathering the family for beach vacations. Thelma had loving relationships with her nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, as well as her long-time friends, who maintained contact with her despite changes in residence and health.
