Victor Paul Maziarz

November 13, 1930 — January 16, 2016

Victor “Vic” Paul Maziarz   On the morning of Saturday, January 16, 2016, Victor “Vic” Paul Maziarz passed away peacefully at Grace Health Center in Meadville, after suffering a small stroke several days earlier. Vic was 85 years old. Vic was born November 13, 1930, in Meadville, son of Marion John Maziarz and Charlotte Lukasik Maziarz. He attended local schools in Meadville, but before graduating, enlisted in the U.S. Navy in late 1947. Although receiving his GED, Vic later went back to school to obtain his high school diploma, graduating from San Diego High School in 1966, and was very proud to have served as Valedictorian of his graduating class. Vic married the love of his life, Leah Lorraine Trevethan, first by a Justice of the Peace on December 29, 1953, and again at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Manchester, NH on December 11th, 1954. They remained devoted to one another during their 56 year marriage, until Leah’s death in late 2010. Vic proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy until his retirement as a Chief Petty Officer on January 2, 1968 in San Diego, CA.   He subsequently worked for Bank of America, Prudential Overall Supply, and finally as the Precious Metals Vault Teller at Johnson Matthey, where he retired in 1990. He and Leah then relocated from San Diego back to Meadville, where many of their family members still lived. Vic was an avid golfer in his earlier years, and enjoyed fishing and hunting after moving back to Pennsylvania. He kept abreast of current events, was interested in local politics, and never shied away from giving his opinion. He was a generous, big-hearted man, who was forever optimistic and cheerful. He was a devoted husband, and a loving and giving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Leah Trevethan Maziarz, brothers Edmund and Mitchell, and sister Helen Maziarz DeGross. Vic is survived by his two daughters, Barbara Maziarz Ward and her husband, Michael, of Mukilteo, WA, and Catharine Maziarz Wallis and her husband, Charles, of Santee, CA; two granddaughters, Jennifer Ward Orhuozee and her husband, Emmanuel, of Lynnwood, WA, and Sarah Heath of Santee, CA; two great-grandchildren, Lola Lorraine Orhuozee and Lorenzo Michael Orhuozee of Lynnwood, WA. He is also survived by sisters Theresa Maziarz Markey of Erie, and Martha Maziarz Beauchat and her husband Donald of Meadville, and brothers Joseph Maziarz of Meadville, and Richard Maziarz of Kittaning, PA, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Interment will take place at St. Brigid Cemetery in Meadville.
