Walter Howick

July 12, 1943 — August 8, 2019

Walter (Walt) James Howick, 76, a long-time businessman from Conneaut Lake, passed away after a short illness Thursday, August 8, 2019 at the Family Hospice & Palliative Care House in Pittsburgh with family by his side.

He was born in Meadville, PA on July 12, 1943 to the late Walter B. and Madeline (Gribus) Howick.

Walt was the owner of Howick’s Auto Body in Conneaut Lake, a charter member of Conneaut Lake Ambulance Service, and a member of the Conneaut Lake Park Fire Department. Walt was also a past president at Conneaut Lake Fire Department and a past member of the Jaycees.

Walt enjoyed running races, going to the car races, watching sports on tv and spending time with his family and friends. In the past, Walt was a cross country coach at Linesville HS. He raced several drag strip cars and always loved going to watch his grandchildren in their sporting events.

Walt is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Alice M. (Herdering) Howick; his children, Bradley Howick and his wife Chris of Conneaut Lake, Ed Howick of Centerville, Jeanna Green and her husband Alan of Atlantic; his brothers, Albert Howick and his wife Genny, Norman Howick and his wife Marge; his sister, Sr. Martha Howick; eleven grandchildren, Joshua Howick and his wife Irene, Tamara Mercier and her husband Jeremy, Brettian Yunik, Annmarie Howick, Gavin Varner, Alex Howick, Edward Howick, Madeline Howick, Adam Green and his wife Jessie, Cristeanna Green and her fiancé Brandon Carberry, Karlee Green and her fiancé Anthony Bartoo; five great grandchildren, Kia Herzog, Julianna & Jayme Mercier, Liam Bartoo and Rowan Green; and several nieces and nephews.

Walt was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Jeannett Bronder.

As per Walt’s wishes, a private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
