Wayne Best

Wayne E. Best, age 73, of Meadville, PA passed away on Monday January 25, 2021 after suffering a stroke in November.  He was born on August 7, 1947 in Meadville, PA to the late Richard and Audrey (Baird) Best.  He married the former Mary Hughes on May 4, 1968.

Wayne was a 1965 graduate of Meadville Sr. High School.  He attended Penn State University before enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1968.  He was awarded a Purple Heart for wounds received, the Army Commendation medal and a National Defense Service Medal for his honorable services during the Vietnam War.

He was an avid hunter, fisherman, golfer, card player and loved working with his hands.  Most of all, he loved his family and friends.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Mary; daughter, Cassandra Best of Midlothian, VA; son and daughter-in-law, James and Ashleigh Best of Wooster, OH and two granddaughters, McKenna Grace and Finnley Jaymes.

As per Wayne’s request, there will be no services.  The family will hold a memorial service at a later date.
