William Elmer McKinley, age 86, of Meadville, PA passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Tuesday September 6, 2022. He was born at home in Meadville, PA on May 5, 1936 to the late Clarence and Anna (Snyder) McKinley. He married Sondra Marley on October 10, 1958. She preceded him in death on February 18, 2015.
Bill graduated from Meadville High School in 1954. He then proudly served in the United States Army from 1955-1957. After his time in the military, he moved to California where he worked as a mailman and then moved to Oregon where he worked in a lumber yard. He then moved to Meadville where he worked for the Erie Lackawanna Railroad.
He was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church of the Redeemer.
Bill thoroughly enjoyed growing up on the farm. He was always an animal lover. After the service, Bill and Sondra enjoyed living on the West Coast in California and Oregon. They returned to Meadville to build their house and raise their family. Bill enjoyed country music, reading, fishing and golf. Most of all, he loved spending time with his friends and family. He was a genuine, kind, honest man rooted in his faith.
Bill is survived by his daughter, Robin Durasa and her husband, Dewey of Saegertown, PA and his son, Keith McKinley and his wife, Amy of Meadville, PA; 2 grandchildren (who he was especially proud of), Drew Durasa (Morgan) and Ava McKinley; one sister, Dorothea McKinley of Meadville, PA and one brother, Don McKinley and his wife, Sue of Broken Bow, OK and his beloved in- laws, nieces and nephews, cousins and friends and his special cousin, Logan Luce.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday September 10, 2022 from 1-3 pm at the Presbyterian Church of the Redeemer, 16864 Conneaut Lake Rd., Meadville, PA 16335. A memorial service will take place at 3:00 pm at the church officiated by Reverend Tim Solomon.
