Howard was a member of the US Air Force from 1946 - 1949. One January 1, 1950, he married Evelyn Feltenberger; she preceded him in death on March 15, 1994. Howard was the owner of Pug's Auto Body and was a lacquer specialist. He painted a large number of the older show cars.

Evelyn was known as a hard worker, starting work at Talon at the age of 15 and retiring there many years later. During WWII, she also worked at the Youngstown Steel Mills. On Jan. 7, 1961, she married Robert S. Walton, he survives. She was a life member of Hayfield Central Hose Company.
